Boat Ride Back from Turtle Harbor

So last week we went to Turtle Harbor to continue our efforts in cleaning it up and making paths and preparing the reserve for tourist visits. On our way back, it was about 3 in the afternoon, and the wind had been tremendous all day long. Our boat is one of the smaller ones that goes out on the open sea, only about 22 ft. As we rounded the corner where the ocean was unshielded from the island, we began to see huge waves. The space between the peaks of the waves was sometimes as much as 75 feet, which meant that our boat could easily fit in either side of the valley between the peaks. Our boat felt like one of the cars in a rollercoaster train as it soared up and down the huge waves. I looked back at our captain, Harris, who showed no fear whatsoever. In fact, he had a big smile on his face. In the wind and the waves, the compartment door (which kept the projector and computers dry) began to swing open. I diverted my attention for a moment to try to close it and latch it again, and just as I was closing it Josh shouted, "Danger!" I looked up as our boat climbed again over a huge wave the hull smashed against the valley below. The nose of the boat barely submerged itself into the water and splashed water into the boat, drenching me. The pattern continued over several more huge waves until we finally arrived at the East Harbor and docked our boat. I enjoyed the adventure, and I think that my suggestion for a new ride at Disney World will be the "Undersized Boat on a Roaring Sea" ride.
