Our Mission

BICA has obtained legal status in April 1991 by the Presidential Resolution 45-91. It has been recognized as a non-governmental, private, non-profit organization with primary goal “to conserve marine and terrestrial eco-systems, to protect animal and plant species in danger of extinction, and to promote environmental education.”

Our Mission

  • To protect fragile ecosystems and endangered plants and animals of Utila.
  • To promote sustainable development through rational use and management of the natural resources of Utila.
  • To raise awareness of the importance and richness of Utila´s environment through education, communication and participation of the community.
